Our first week has been fantastic! Our friends have explored and enjoyed discovering all the changes Mr. Frost and I made in the room during the summer break.
In the full-day kindergarten program, the play-based environment is seen as "the third teacher". We truly believe that the learning environment impacts classroom values, attitudes and, of course, the student learning. And so, we spent a lot of time attempting to bring nature inside. We chose to switch as much as possible to natural materials in an attempt to make a less restrictive, more inviting, creative and child-centred place. The room is just awaiting evidence of student-generated learning and creativity!

"The Full-Day Early Learning–Kindergarten program consists of a balance of exploration or investigation, guided instruction, and explicit instruction. Children need many opportunities to explore and investigate. These experiences allow children to build on their existing knowledge, create and clarify their own new understandings, and experience a variety of approaches to a problem or question."
